Subject: [Effective-cpp] [Mentored Developers] Exception C++ Style Project

Hi All

(Cross-posted to accu-general, accu-mentored-developers and effective-cpp to
reach those that are not on accu-mentored-developers. Please only post
replied to accu-mentored-developers. If you are not a member of that list
and you are an ACC member please email me off list to be added)

Like me, I expect most of you now have a copy of Exceptional C++ Style: 40
New Engineering Puzzles, Programming Problems, and Solutions by Herb Sutter.
I thought it would be a good idea to start a new Mentored Developers project
based around it along the same lines as the effective-cpp projects.

For those of you that are not familiar with the effective-cpp projects, what
happens is that the members of the project each take an item (or two,
depending on the number of members), write a summary and post it to the
list. The item is then discussed and after a week or so the item owner
emails me their summary and a summary of the discussion for the website. We
do the items in chronological order at one or two per week.

This worked very well with More Effective C++. We got all the way to the
end. The Effective STL project stalled half way, mainly because I got too
busy to nag people. However, my new job puts me in a good position for
nagging people, so there shouldn't be that problem this time.

As there are 40 items we need a minimum of 20 people (ideally). If there is
enough interest I'll email Herb and see if I can rope him in too. I'm sure
he'd appreciate the feedback. If enough people need a copy of the book I'll
see if I can get a bulk discount.

So, who's interested? Please feel free to email me off list if you prefer,
but emailing accu-mentored-developers will let other people know you're
interested too!

Regards
Paul
